MOMBASA’S RARE GEM HIDDEN IN PLAIN SIGHT

IMPACTING LIVES SINCE 1953

Memory is always a beautiful place to dwell and linger on- if we focus on the good parts. Amazing how we can reminisce on past scenarios each peculiar to its own; the smell, taste or even the feel of it. The human senses can be heightened to wonderous scales. As time runs its course, we tend to hold on to what moves us. And somehow, the mind erases parts of less or no concern to us like clockwork, the brain does most of this on its own. I can think back to playing hide and seek with my brother and other kids from the neighborhood and have this picture play in my mind automatically and vividly.

I’ve caught myself several times curiously racking my memory to what may have transpired at a certain moment, to no avail on most occasions. We do have memories that we’ve pushed back, opted not to think of them which eventually led to partially forgetting or even successfully erasing them. Quite certain that the present moment is hardly cherished as should, as this is evidently presented with most of us not being able to account for their time spent excluding routines.

Life can be very challenging and depression may hit hard on these streets especially in the recent years turn of events; the pandemic, inter-nation wars and politics running the daily show. I’m sure we can all resonate to the tremendous effects; from business losses, financial crisis, premature deaths and to even more disheartening circumstances I would not wish on anyone.

Marvelously, we somehow managed to find ways to make it through the rubble. If you would take a moment and look back, we all deserve a trophy! I mean it is not much compared to what we yearn for ultimately, but ‘eish’ the hustle we’ve put in deserves recognition individually. Not trying hard to be positive- don’t read me wrong- I’ve had days I’d give up in a minute but not today. Today, we are taking a backseat right where we are and appreciate the view.

The view of what came, what is here now and what may come.

Even though we are oblivious to the future, we always have expectations or ideas of what tomorrow may have in store for us. In other words, we are some sort of magicians to our own lives. Always prepared, always ready. At times it hits us out of nowhere which just completes this puzzle of the unknown purpose, direction or however you may term LIFE, but you get the jist of it. Life is very unpredictable and that’s its nature but no matter how hard or easy it gets, we adjust our sails, even nature does.

It brings a healthy satisfaction and courage especially when we are at our worst and go down memory lane on scenarios that we managed to come through, that’s therapy on its own. Even sharing your troubles with close friends and hearing their own, will relieve the burden you feel and will have you grow a different perspective on how to view the challenges we get to endure. Trust me, you will be grateful to live the kind of life you have as it does not elude the challenges but makes you work through those ‘troubles’ bravely and calmly.

This is how my love for watching the night sky grows, a selenophile in the making. It brings this calmness as this activity is truly exciting, a stress reliever and somehow sparks my creativity. Something between meditation and therapeutic and I sure do love some me time. We should always dance to the rhythm of what sets our souls on fire as there is nothing wholesome as having time to self-reflect.

Top of the cherry, this will have us savour on every drop of the present, as we shall cherish all the good memories thus pushing us to create more beautiful ones, naturally.

We definitely are magicians, don’t you agree now?

I can go on all afternoon on how beautiful and suprising everything in life is but I have a sunset to catch and nature to dwell in, so I’ll keep this short and sweet: YOU ARE HERE NOW and that is all that matters.

Life will find you, either way, you can as well take a cup of chamomile tea and go through your gallery for it does get better than this. So as we carry on our daily routines and errands, reflect on the impact it shall have eventually.

Set yourself up for success with a vision board on goals and accomplishments you would like to achieve. That way, you won’t loose your footing as you will easily recognize the many achievements you have surpassed.
