When I first stepped onto the Rifkins College campus, I had no idea what to expect. I remember feeling a mix of excitement and nervousness and what I found at Rifkins College was more than just an education. It was a journey of growth, discovery, and transformation—one that I believe every student should experience.
I chose Rifkins College because of its reputation for excellence in both academics and community engagement. The campus itself is beautiful, but it was the people and the vibrant community spirit that truly made it special.
More Than Just Books
From my very first class, I could tell that Rifkins College was committed to academic excellence. The professors here are not just experts in their fields; they are passionate educators who care deeply about their students’ success. I quickly realized that learning at Rifkins wasn’t about memorizing facts or cramming for exams. It was about exploring ideas, asking questions, and developing a deep understanding of the world around me.
One of my favorite classes was “Introduction to Sociology,” taught by Mr. Mandila. He had a unique way of connecting theoretical concepts to real-world issues. His classes were more like discussions than lectures, where we were encouraged to think critically and share our perspectives. This approach not only made learning more engaging but also helped me develop a broader understanding of society and my place within it.
At Rifkins, education is not confined to the classroom. The college offers numerous opportunities for experiential learning, such as research projects, and community service. After graduating, I interned at a local nonprofit organization through the college’s community engagement program. This experience was life-changing. I applied what I learned in class to real-world challenges and gained valuable skills that I know will serve me well in my future career.
A Supportive Community: Friends for Life
Rifkins College is more than just a place to learn; it’s a community that feels like a second home. From day one, I felt welcomed and supported by everyone I met. The friendships I’ve made here are some of the most meaningful relationships of my life.
I joined the student-run Rifkins Debate Club during my first semester, and it quickly became one of my favorite activities. The club meets weekly to discuss current events, hone our public speaking skills, and learn from each other. It’s a diverse group with members from different backgrounds and disciplines, but we all share a love for lively debate and open dialogue. Being a part of this club not only improved my communication skills but also taught me to appreciate different perspectives and ideas.
**Personal Growth: Finding My True Self**
Perhaps the most transformative part of my Rifkins experience has been the personal growth I’ve undergone. College is a time for self-discovery, and Rifkins provides the perfect environment for exploring who you are and who you want to become.
Towards the end of my course, I took two classes; communication & job essential skills abd Guidance and counseling. These two challenged me in ways I never expected. I’ve always loved writing and speaking in public, but I was hesitant to share my work and ideas with others. These classes pushed me out of my comfort zone and taught me to be vulnerable. Through social understanding and writing, I was able to explore my own identity, confront my fears and express myself effortlessly.
One of the most memorable assignments was writing a personal essay about a significant life event. I chose to write about the loss of my grandmother, someone who meant the world to me. Putting my feelings into words was incredibly difficult, but it was also cathartic. My classmates and tutor were supportive and encouraging, and their feedback helped me see the strength in my story. This experience taught me the power of vulnerability and authenticity, and it’s something I carry with me every day.
Opportunities to Lead and Make a Difference
Rifkins College is a place where students are encouraged to take initiative and make a difference. Whether it’s leading the class during discussions or presentations, there are opportunities to develop leadership skills and contribute to the community.
A Bright Future Ahead
As I approach graduation, I look back on my time at Rifkins College with immense gratitude. This institution has given me so much more than an education. It has shaped me into the person I am today—confident, curious, and ready to make a difference in the world.
I know that my journey at Rifkins is just the beginning. The skills I’ve gained, the friendships I’ve made, and the lessons I’ve learned will stay with me for the rest of my life. I am excited for the future, knowing that I have the tools and support to achieve my dreams.
To any prospective students considering Rifkins College, I say this: Take the leap. Join a community that will challenge you, support you, and inspire you every step of the way. Your time at Rifkins will be filled with learning, growth, and discovery. You will leave with more than just a diploma—you will leave with a lifetime of memories, friendships, and the confidence to pursue your passions.
Rifkins College isn’t just a place; it’s an experience that will change your life forever. And I am so grateful to have been a part of it.
